Calahonda is a new town and a commercial center. If you are looking for a traditional Spanish town, then perhaps Calahonda is not the right location for you, but if you are looking for a well-serviced resort, less than 25 minutes by car from Malaga Airport, with lovely urbanizations and homes to buy with all the amenities, and close to the beach, then you may have found your ideal location.

Calahonda is no stranger to catering to every need of all visitors and it’s been welcoming international tourists since the early 1970’s. Situated along the coast with full access to the sea and the many beaches and boardwalks, you cannot go wrong with spending a little time in this accessible holiday destination.

Miles of golden sandy beaches go all the way to Marbella and it is even possible to walk there if you wish. Calahonda has a lovely long 4km stretch of sandy beach (Torre de Calahonda) with a port (Puerto Cabopino) and several pretty villas and urbanizations with apartments that back the beach area. There are several chiringuitos (beach bars most of which serve food too) scattered along the beach. The lovely natural sand dunes at Cabopino are just 2km away and here you will find the nudist beach.

In only 20 minutes you can be in Marbella’s Old Town and in 2 hours you could be admiring the Alhambra in Granada!

Calahonda is a really convenient and practical place to buy property on the Costa del Sol, especially if English is your first language. There’s a strong international resident community all year round and with great shops, restaurants, bars, golf and plenty to do within easy reach. There are also a wide range of property options, built with foreign residents and tourists in mind, so it’s no wonder that it’s so popular as a second home or retirement destination. This great location and popularity with British, Irish and Northern European buyers made it the obvious choice for the Martin Real Estate office.
